Hi my name is Marta Czymbor.
You might know me already as I am living in Gloucestershire area for 6 years.
I graduated from University in 2003 with MSc in Physiotherapy. Since then I am working hard on getting more and more manual skills and knowledge about human body,
I am CSP and HCPC registered.
What I can offer you? Our sessions are minimum 45 min long, based on manual therapy and exercises. Yes you need to complete short health questionnaire for health and safety but the rest of my time I will dedicate to you not to a paperwork.
Very flexible appointment times are something extremely rare -very early and late hours available.
Home work station adjustments or car postural assessment and adjustments if you require is also available.
- To even start working on your body with exercises you need to prepare the structure means getting rid of the muscle knots and reduce muscle disbalance that are negatively impacting on your posture. That is all what I do with deep soft tissue massage, joint mobilization, fascia therapy, lymphatic drainage.
- Did you know you can avoid or at least delay joint replacement when you start protecting it early.
Therapeutic exercises, healthy lifestyles advice, self management techniques- that is all included in your session.
- Your pain- can be well managed so you can reduce the amount of painkillers you are taking.
45 min to an hour- depends on complexity of the issues.
Full biomechanical assessment followed with hands on treatment and exercises.

What are Leeches and why is Leech therapy recommended?
Leeches are organisms known for drinking animal blood. A special subtype of leeches Hirudo Medicinalis is specially cultivated for medical use in laboratories.
Many studies have found that leeches have various bioactive molecules in their secretions that positively impact the human body.
More than 20 molecules have been identified.
Bioactive substances delivered by the leeches that improve general health include:
Serotonin- chemical carrier of messages between nerve cells, impacts on mood, sleep, digestion, wound healing
Endorphin -relieves stress, and muscle cramps, inhibits pain
Eglin - an anti-inflammatory agent
Histamine- increases blood circulation, lowers a blood pressure
Hirudin and Calin- platelet inhibitory action, anticoagulant
Anti-elastase- slows down the aging process of the skin
Lipids and phosphatidic acids- positively impact the insulating and protecting layer of the skin
Elastin and collagenase- are reducing tissue tension
that is just to name a few
In Britain, leeches are widely used in the National Health Service (NHS), to help in the surgical re-attachment, plastic surgeries, and other surgeries.
Leeches are used in medicine by doctors for a wide range of diseases including the following:
Chronic skin diseases (such as psoriasis, eczema, and cutaneous leishmaniasis)
Phlebitis and gout
Ischaemic heart disease
To prevent post-surgical blood clotting
In the treatment of asthma
To treat localized infections such as abscesses, mastitis, paronychia
For pain relief, in conditions such as osteoarthritis (ankle, hip, knee, shoulder, small joints)
What I am using it for?
OSTEOARTHRITIS
Sufferers from osteoarthritis (OA) usually complain of pain, stiffness, and swelling of the joints. This results in immobility and difficulty with activities of daily living (ADLs).
A significant reduction in pain, swelling, and joint stiffness was noticed after leech therapy.
Leech therapy for OA is usually repeated every 6–8 months. It is a safe and (in most patients) very effective way to treat the symptoms of arthritis.
SPORT INJURIES
Hirudotherapy is extremely beneficial in accelerating the healing of injured tissues.
The bioactive agents from leeches dilate vessels to improve circulation thereby supporting the natural healing abilities of the human body.
Leeches applied to an injured area reduce pain and inflammation resulting in an earlier recovery of mobility and a quicker return to normal activities.
The number of sessions required in sports injuries is dependent on the severity of the injury, and also the individual’s response to the therapy.
WELLBEING IS BOOSTED WITH LEECH THERAPY
Improvement of the circulation of blood in the tissues, stimulate cells to work more efficiently and enhance overall well-being.
What are the risks of Leech therapy?
Infection
Despite being specially farmed for use on patients, leeches contain bacteria in their gut that allow them to digest blood. There is hence a small risk of transmitted infection from the leeches. Antibiotics then need to be used.
However, these complications are rare and the most common adverse effects are itching and bleeding in the application area.
Allergies
Adverse reactions to leeches and their secretions should be considered.
Bleeding
The leech puncture wounds may continue to drain blood for 10 hours after the leech has dropped off.
Medical Leech Therapy usually leaves a small scar, therefore, patients should be informed about this, especially before application to particular body parts.
How do I consent to Leech therapy?
When the clinical decision for leech therapy is taken, this treatment is discussed with you, including the benefits, and risks. Written consent from you is typically taken after the discussion if you are happy to proceed, which confirms that leech therapy can start and that you understand what is involved. This is documented in your clinical notes.
What happens during Leech Therapy?
Before the leeches are applied, the area for treatment will be cleaned. Usually, 2 leeches at a time are applied to the skin tissue.
With the first successful treatment, more leeches can be applied in the next session.
Leeches are applied with the glass cup to the part of the skin to be treated to allow them to attach to the skin tissue.
The leeches produce an anesthetic during treatment, so leech therapy is usually painless.
The leeches may stay attached to the affected site for between 15 to 60 minutes. After the leeches have finished feeding, they usually drop off and are removed. Each leech is used only once and is humanely disposed of.
What are the contraindications for leech treatment?
Leech therapy is NOT suitable for you in:
- hemophilia
-anemia
-period
- pregnancy
-cancer, during the treatment, chemotherapy

- low blood pressure- below 80/60
